Kodiak Conducts Training Operations for New Aviation Survival Technicians
Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak is proud to showcase the exemplary efforts of Coast Guard Helicopter 6017, which was recently engaged in vital training operations to prepare two new Aviation Survival Technicians (ASTs) who have just arrived at the station.
The helicopter and its skilled crew were involved in rigorous training exercises that tested the ASTs’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in challenging and dynamic scenarios. These operations are essential to ensure that the ASTs are fully equipped to provide top-notch support to the Coast Guard’s vital search and rescue missions, which are critical to the safety and well-being of the maritime community.
The two new ASTs have just arrived at Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, and the training operations led by Helicopter 6017 provided them with a valuable opportunity to get hands-on experience and gain confidence in their abilities. With the help of experienced crew members, they learned how to conduct rescue operations, use advanced search and rescue equipment, and hone their survival skills.
The crew of Helicopter 6017, led by the Base Commander Captain Robert Brady, provided the new ASTs with invaluable guidance and mentorship throughout the training process. Capt. Brady, who has over two decades of experience in the Coast Guard, explained that training new ASTs is an essential part of the Coast Guard’s mission and that it is a responsibility that he takes very seriously.
“The work that we do is critical to the safety and security of the maritime community,” said Capt. Brady. “It’s essential that we train our new ASTs to the highest standards so that they can perform their duties with confidence and expertise.”
The training operations involving Helicopter 6017 are just one example of the Coast Guard’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of its mission. The Coast Guard’s aviation units are among the best in the world, and the ASTs who serve in these units are some of the most highly trained and skilled personnel in the military.
At Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, the ASTs work side by side with their fellow Coast Guard members to ensure that every mission is executed with precision and professionalism. They are part of a team that is dedicated to saving lives, protecting the environment, and defending our nation’s interests.
