Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak is proud to showcase the work of the Coast Guard Fire Department (CGFD) stationed at our facility. The CGFD plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our personnel, as well as protecting Coast Guard assets from fire and other emergencies.

CGFD Conducts Vehicle Extrication Training

The CGFD at Air Station Kodiak is staffed by a team of highly trained and dedicated professionals who are prepared to respond to a wide range of emergencies at a moment’s notice. Their responsibilities include responding to fires, hazardous material spills, medical emergencies, and other incidents that could threaten the safety of our personnel or the integrity of our facilities.

In addition to responding to emergencies, the CGFD also plays an important role in preventing fires and other incidents from occurring in the first place. They conduct regular fire safety inspections, provide training to personnel on fire prevention and safety, and work to ensure that our facilities are equipped with the latest fire detection and suppression equipment.

“The CGFD at Air Station Kodiak is a vital part of our team,” said Captain Robert Brady, the commanding officer of the air station. “Their dedication, professionalism, and expertise are essential to our mission, and we are grateful for the work they do every day to keep us safe.”

The CGFD at Air Station Kodiak is also an integral part of the larger Kodiak community, working closely with local fire departments and emergency responders to ensure coordinated and effective responses to incidents. They participate in joint training exercises, share information and resources, and work collaboratively to promote public safety and well-being.

“We are proud to serve as part of the broader emergency response network here in Kodiak,” said Chief Andrew Ethans, the officer in charge of the CGFD. “Our partnerships with other agencies and responders are critical to our ability to respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.”

The CGFD at Air Station Kodiak is a shining example of the Coast Guard’s commitment to excellence and professionalism in all aspects of our operations. Their dedication to fire prevention, emergency response, and community engagement sets a high standard for emergency responders everywhere, and we are proud to have them as part of our team.
